I lie here awake on a dark night
in a room in a city of grief.
Out in the garden’s the starlight,
the true world of beauty and peace.
And I long one day just to be there,
to sit and relax in the breeze.
I know if I work a bit harder
then soon I’ll be closer to it.
But I spend my days in the office
when I could be out in the trees.
I run my fingers through keyboards
while I dream of the grass and the leaves.
I play every day to get it right
and to win in their cages esteemed,
but all that I need is the sunlight
and starlight for eternity.
